Επιγραμματικά, τα μόνιμα προγράμματα εθελοντικής εργασίας είναι μακροχρόνια workcamps τα οποία «τρέχουν» καθ’ όλη τη διάρκεια του έτους και των οποίων η διάρκεια εξαρτάται από τη διαθεσιμότητα σου.

 

Συνήθως, υπάρχει μια ελάχιστη περίοδος παραμονή που μπορεί να κυμαίνεται από έναν μέχρι τρεις μήνες, ανάλογα το πρόγραμμα, αλλά ο κάθε εθελοντής μπορεί να συμφωνήσει την περίοδο που τον εξυπηρετεί με την οργάνωση φιλοξενίας του.

 

Συχνά, τέτοιου είδους workcamps πραγματοποιούνται σε μακρινές χώρες, στην Ασία και στην Αφρική, αλλά όχι αποκλειστικά. Μπορείς να βρεις αντίστοιχα προγράμματα και στην Ευρώπη!

ΗΠΑ
Organization’s core activities: Through international voluntary service VFP promotes intercultural education, service learning and community development.

1. VFP-MTV06-18, EXPLORE NEW YORK, SOCI DISA, 27/05/18 - 31/10/18, 21-99, open during the month of September (dates flexible)
In this beautiful project volunteers will lead trips for people with special needs. The main duty is working as a Trip Leader providing supervision, support and companionship to adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities on overnight vacations. Responsibilities include ensuring safety, providing emotional and physical support, enhancing fun, budgeting, driving and activity planning 24 hours a day while on trips. Training will be provided. Between trips, some light office work or assistance is required.

 

2. VFP-MTV01-18, COMMUNITY REENTRY, SOCIAL JUSTICE WORK, BURLINGTON, SOCI, 01/01/18 - 31/12/18, 21-99, looking for a female volunteer from November 2018 until January 2019.

3. VFP-MTV02-18, COMMUNITY REENTRY, SOCIAL JUSTICE WORK, SOCI, 01/12/17 - 01/12/18, 21-99, looking for volunteers starting in November 2018. 

The Dismas House provides housing and opportunities to men and women getting out of prison so that they can successfully transition back into the community. Volunteers will assist in a variety of tasks including but not limited to: administrative support in the office, helping with fundraising activities, supporting the residential community by helping with planning and participating in house activities and Residential Advisor duties. 

 

 

Μεξικό
Organization’s core activities: Protecting sea turtles; supporting schools in computer technology and language courses, painting schools and repairing benches. We clean beaches and rivers, reforest woods and gardens; we work with farmers in agricultural tasks, with people with disabilities, in the prevention of addictions; and we place volunteers in projects that involve working with homeless children and orphans and projects that involve art (drawing, watercolor and oil painting), sports, singing, etc.
Minimum stay: three months.

Extra fee: it depends from the time that you want to stay (170 or 275 euros – 3 months; 413 euros - 6 months; 740 euros - 12 months), it includes food & accommodation.

If you participate in this project you will support the first centre of education and environmental culture in the state of Aguascalientes.

 

5. A-VIMEX MLTV 18/03, AGRI ORGANIC CAMP, AGRI, 15/08/18 - 15/08/19, 18-28.

By participating in this interesting agricultural project, you will support the hosting organization in developing a profitable and sustainable plan of organic agricultural production with organizational strategies, in harmony with the production system. You will participate in various tasks, such as manual and reforestation activities, supporting farmers in their daily work, shoulder to shoulder, to share our energy and happiness with them.

 

Κόστα Ρίκα
Organization’s core activities: Programs of intercultural learning and international voluntary service (IVS) for people from all around of the world, facilitating their experience in social and ecological projects, developing global citizens. ACI wants to contribute to solidarity and friendship between the different societies of our globalized world, to sustainable human development, and participants’ personal growth.
Minimum stay: 1 week.
Starting Date: Open all year, arrival date is free.
Extra fee: 1 week stay 237.50 USD (camp fee 87.5 $ + adm. cost 150 $ for ACI Costa Rica). 87.5 $ for each extra week. It includes lodging and food during the workcamp; official activities during the schedule of the workcamp; guidance by a Group Supervisor of ACI during the workcamp.
Orientation: On arrival.

 

6. ACI/FUDEB2018, FUDEBIOL 2018, ENVI, 08/01/18 - 22/12/18, 18-99.
In this environmental project, volunteers will support the work of the Biological Center of Quebradas, managed by FUDEBIOL (Fundación para el Desarrollo del Centro Biológico Las Quebradas) a non-profit grass roots organization launched in 1989. Their mission is to stop the deforestation of the Quebradas River basin, which is the source of drinking water for the whole town of San Isidro and most of the region of Pérez Zeledón.

 

Ινδία

Organization’s core activities: Street children teaching, Street girls’ empowerment, Intercultural exchange projects.
Minimum stay: 4 weeks
Starting Date: Anytime
Extra fee: 21000 (approx. euro 300) for 4 weeks, every extra month 200 euro, every extra week Indian Rupees 4200 (euro 60 approx.) Cost includes 3 times local food; shared dorm room at local host family; public transportation (train/bus) to and from the project if required; airport pickup on arrival; drinking water; two-day orientation; limited Wi-Fi connectivity; training if required (Mon-Fri); pre departure orientation; emergency support; local language training on arrival.
Orientation: All volunteers go through two-day orientation on arrival.

 

7. SMILE MLTV 01, SMILE HAPPY HOME PROJECT, SOCI KIDS MANU EDU CULT ART, 02/08/18 - 31/12/18, 15-99.
By participating in this project, you will help our Indian partner organization SMILE NGO to bring a smile to the most neglected children who live on the streets of Kolkata. You will also help the local coordinator in distributing food, organizing drama, storytelling, and entertainment games for children.

8. SMILE MLTV 02, STREET CHILDREN TEACHING PROJECT, SOCI KIDS MANU EDU CULT ART, 02/08/18 - 30/12/18, 15-99.
By participating in this project, you will help underprivileged refugee children in Kolkata and provide confidence and moral support to their mothers. You will help by implementing informal basic educational activities on various subjects, such as English, hygiene, basic health care, and family planning education. You will also play, organize an entertainment program and food distribution for children of this downtrodden community.

 

9. SMILE MLTV03, STREET GIRLS EMPOWERMENT, KIDS STUD EDU CULT ART LANG, 01/08/18 - 31/12/18, 15-99.
India has uncountable numbers of street and slum dwellers. There are thousands of poor refugees coming every year from nearby countries and from different small towns and villages to the big cities and most of these families are living in a very poorly condition. Usually refugee families bring their children to help them in begging, household work, and rag picking activities, some girls have even been forcibly thrown to prostitution. In this workcamp the target group consists of refugee older girls from the downtrodden families of Kolkata.

 

10. SMILE MLTV 04, INTERCULTURAL & LANGUAGE EXCHANGE, ENVI SOCI KIDS MANU CULT AGRI LANG, 02/08/18 - 31/12/18, 15-99.
Volunteers will have the chance to exchange their culture, language, food with locals, by participating in local and language cooking lessons. Indian families and international participants can exchange their culture and lifestyles. The project will take place in a suburb called Madhyamgram, just 8 km from Kolkata Airport.

11. SMILE MLTV 05, STREET DOGS WELFARE, SOCI MANU CULT ART ANIM, 01/08/18 - 31/12/18, 15-65.
Do you love dogs? Then this project is for you! Dogs and cats are everywhere on Indian streets, they live unprotected and abandoned lives without almost any management system from local government. In SMILE family we have a big love for domestic animals, hence we made a small shelter in 2009 where we take care of few dogs and cats on a regular basis. You will have amazing time with these cute animals!

 

12. SMILE MLTV06, YOGA/MEDITATION WORKSHOP AND COMMUNITY WORK, ENVI KIDS CULT, 07/03/18 - 31/12/18, 15-99.
Meditation is the main theme of this project. If you participate in this beautiful workcamp, you will live intercultural exchange, and you will learn Indian yoga and meditation to bring enlightenment in your life.

 

13. SMILE MLTV 07, ONLINE PROMOTIONAL ASSISTANT, TRAN, 04/03/18 - 31/12/18, 18-45.

If you are passionate about online communication and you would like to use your talent to help a local NGO, have a look at this project where you will support the organization SMILE in online promotion, by writing content for blogs, forum and for advertising the organization’s activities around the world. Due to the organization’s charity status, it is really difficult to go for paid advertising. Right now, volunteers from native English-speaking countries or from other European and Asian countries are welcome to join the team as promotional assistants.

 

14. SMILE MLTV 08, MANUAL ASSISTANT, MANU AGRI ART TRAS, 03/11/17 - 31/12/18, 18-45.

Volunteers will help in domestic assistance at the SMILE House, by helping local volunteers in their daily activities, such as cleaning premises, shopping, organizing, and supporting local members.

 

15. SMILE MLTV 09, ART, MUSIC AND DANCE TEACHING, SOCI KIDS MANU EDU CULT AGRI ART, 03/11/17 - 31/12/18, 18-65.

You will help refugee children and their mothers from the streets of Kolkata, by providing informal basic education, for example through teaching them different arts, crafts and painting. All volunteers go through orientation on arrival and two local language sessions during this workcamp. There will also be a workshop every evening where volunteers will prepare the next day lesson plan of action. For mothers, informal vocational training and basic English teaching would be helpful. Volunteers will also help the local coordinator in other activities, such as giving shower, distributing food, organizing drama, storytelling and entertainment games for children.

 

 

Κένυα

Organization’s core activities: Food Security, Water & Sanitation, Vulnerable Children & HIV/AIDS, Good Governance and Emergency Relief in order to mitigate the effects of hunger, environmental degradation, diseases and mismanagement of public resources.

Minimum stay: 4 weeks
Starting Date: First Monday of every month.
Extra fee: up to one month 250 euro. Two months and longer: 200 euro per month. The fee paid covers the following services: Airport transfers, 3-day orientation seminar, Introduction to the city. Accommodation and food during orientation and during placement duration, Coordination and office support.

Orientation: There will be an orientation seminar for new volunteers lasting three days including Nairobi city introduction and project placement. The monthly orientation seminar starts on the first Monday of every month. Volunteers should arrive at least one day before orientation starts.

 

16. CIVS/MLTV-20/18, CROSSROADS SPRINGS PRIMARY SCHOOL, SOCI KIDS EDU, 06/10/17 - 06/12/18, 18-99.
Founded in 2004, Crossroads Springs Primary School is both a school and orphanage and is a top performing school both academically and in co-curriculum activities. The school was initiated purposely to provide care for orphans and vulnerable children most of whose parents had died of HIV/AIDS. The School strives to help students to develop skills in order to be able support themselves in the future. It now serves 220 children, with over 120 children being total orphans. Children are of mixed gender and their ages are from 3 to 13 years. Among other tasks, volunteers assist in various activities, such as mathematics, English, science and computer teaching; preparation and serving of meals at school; help in nursing and educating children on health and hygiene.

 

17. CIVS/MLTV-01/18, MALIA CHILDREN S HOME, SOCI KIDS AGRI, 06/10/17 - 31/12/18, 18-99.

Malia Children’s Home is a non-profit organization which accommodates destitute children from all backgrounds and communities in Kenya. Driven by the desire to help the less fortunate in the Kenyan society, founders set up a home within their homestead to accommodate and shelter children in need. Volunteers will help in farming, digging, clearing of bushes in the garden within the project; Taking care of the cattle and helping with the dairy farming; Feeding and taking care of the poultry; Feeding program and assisting with preparation and serving of meals to the orphans.

 

18. CIVS/MLTV-15/18, AHERO RESOURCE CENTRE, KIDS MANU AGRI, 31/03/18 - 31/03/19, 16-50. 

The Ahero Resource Center serves as a One-Stop-Shop offering a variety of services to the local community. The centre is equipped with training facilities and provides capacity building opportunities in Agriculture and Entrepreneurship, and it also is a venue for community groups meetings. From time to time depending on the availability of funds, 30 school age orphans and vulnerable children get free lunch at the center, to improve their concentration and school performance. Volunteers participating in this interesting project will get an insight on how such a center can work and will help in various tasks, such as working in the Model Farm of the center and helping to improve the agricultural methods; assisting in preparation of meals for feeding program; Supporting promotion of the Ahero resource Center and its activities.

 

 

Ουγκάντα

Organization’s core activities: development of local communities: schools (primary and secondary), orphanages, hospitals, children with special needs and working with community-based organizations and Non-Governmental Organizations.
Minimum stay: 1 month or more, depending on the project.
Starting Date: First Monday of every month.
Extra fee: 500 euro for a period of 1-3 months. 80 euro for each additional month. The fee covers pick up from the airport or bus terminal upon arrival in Uganda, on-arrival training (orientation), guesthouse maintenance, accommodation and other operational bills for water, cooking gas, power, kitchen utensils and a monthly contribution for those living in host families, project evaluations and administration costs.
Orientation: There will be a three-day-orientation seminar at the office of the coordinating organization. UPA (Uganda Pioneer’s Association) will share information with you about Uganda mainly covering history, cultures, economy, political situation and social aspects. It also includes a one-day tour to Kampala, assistance in getting the basic necessities, for example SIM Card, Internet and bank services etc. and getting to know how the transport system works. Volunteers undergo through the orientation of UPA and its partners and programmes. After that, UPA introduces volunteers to their project.

Projects ΣΕ ΝΟΣΟΚΟΜΕΙΑ
19. UPA/MLTV/01, GALILEE COMMUNITY GENERAL HOSPITAL.
This project is for volunteers with medical background and administrative skills. Indeed, they will work in a hospital performing a variety of tasks, such as helping medical personnel basing on skills possessed by volunteer; engaging in patient home visits; Providing hand in immunization; Ensuring patient care is maintained; Early childhood growth & development lessons; Representing the hospital in seminars and trainings; HIV counseling and testing; HIV sensitization and awareness in schools.

 

20. UPA/MLTV/02, UGANDA MARTYRS HOSPITAL LUBAGA.
For this project volunteers need to have medical background and to be available for at least 12 months. Volunteers’ tasks can be very different and related to: Principal Nursing Officer: nursing field, quality control, feedback analysis; Pharmacy: support store management; PRO (Public Relation Officer): website and IT communication related issues; Public Health: Home visits to people living with HIV/AIDS, Campaigns against HIV/AIDS, school health programs; Pastoral and Social Worker: workshops, counseling, home visits; Workshop: if technical skills - supervision of construction activities.

 

21. UPA/MLTV/03, FAITH MEMORIAL MEDICAL CENTRE.
Volunteers should have medical background. They will help medical personnel basing on their skills. Possible activities: engaging in patient home visits; providing hand in immunization; ensuring patient care is maintained; helping during community health sensitization; representing hospital in seminars and trainings; helping during HIV and Aids counseling and testing; HIV sensitization and awareness in schools; registration and assessment of new beneficiaries;
following up on different activities; administrative/office work.

 

Projects ΣΕ ΣΧΟΛΕΙΑ

22. UPA/MLTV/04, SWEETHOME BABIES DAY CARE AND NURSERY-NANSANA.
In this beautiful project volunteers will look after children aged 3 months and above. Volunteers will also teach children aged 3 to 6 years in all Early Childhood learning areas. Volunteers might even do this sometimes without the direct help of a teacher. Volunteers will play games with children and teach them art and craft activities.

 

23. UPA/MLTV/06, STEP BY STEP PRIMARY SCHOOL.
In this interesting workcamp, aimed at improving pupils’ literacy and at giving the volunteer an insight into the educational system in Uganda, you will teach children aged 4-12 years; play games with children; engage in music, dance and drama; teach Math and English. Experience in teaching is desirable but not necessary.
