The two workcamps “Summer in the City” in Mandra aim to support families that encounter difficulties, by providing their children with the opportunity to spend quality summer time at school through creative activities.

Which kind of work
You will work with children (from 6 to 12 years old) during their free summer time. You will support the educational activities fixed by the pedagogues (athletic activities, workshops, artistic events, theatrical plays and much more) or even implement your own ideas of activities.
About the accommodation and the food
You will stay in the primary school in the town of Mandra. You will sleep on the floor of the classrooms (sleeping bags and carry mats are necessary). The accommodation will be basic 
but adequate. There will be toilets, showers, a big yard, cooking facilities but you will not find hot water in the showers or internet Wi-Fi. Food will be provided, and meals will be prepared, in shifts, by you.
Mandra and your leisure time
Mandra is a town in West Attica (12,888 inhabitants), surrounding by the main industrial centers in Greece and by a rich and interesting history. Mandra is located 22 km away from Athen, 20km away from the beaches of the Megara Gulf but also close to the Suronic Gulf coast and the city of Elefsina, known for its ancient ruins and cultural life.
In the center of Mandra, there is an ancient monastery, famous for tis miraculous properties. You will have the opportunity to participate to the cultural events organized by the Municipality.
The volunteer’s profile
You must enjoy working with children and be ready to support to daily activity program. Games, songs, instruments and crafting ideas are more than welcome. Do not forget to write a motivation letter with your ideas and your motivations for this specific camp!
All accepted volunteers have to provide ELIX with the original Certificate of Good Conduct.
