In October 2019, 30 youth workers from 8 different European countries will participate in the Peace Action Week organized by ELIX in Athens, a training course focused on the advocacy actions regarding rights of Migrants & Refugees.

During Global Human Rights Week (GHRW), International Voluntary Service (IVS) organisations implement awareness-raising actions, training courses, volunteering activities, communication and advocacy actions on their chosen topics concerning Human Rights and Peace.

In 2017, ELIX successfully implemented the “Peace Action Week - Making Change Happen” focused on the rights of migrants and refugees and the right to citizenship.

Two years after, ELIX is launching its second edition that will gather 30 youth workers from 8 different European countries who will participate in a training organised from the 14th to the 21st of October 2019.

Participants will be youth workers and leaders involved in International Volunteering Service (IVS) organizations, activists committed to human rights and peace but also young people with a migration background.

The main idea behind this project is the belief that migration is a challenge which could be transformed into an opportunity for our societies to grow and become more inclusive, multicultural, and peaceful. It aims to support the social inclusion of young migrants in Europe by increasing intercultural awareness among local communities, as well as by actively engaging young migrants and refugees in the project and its’ follow up activities.

Concretely, it is a training course during which the participants from all over Europe will share, discover and experience new tools, methods and practices they can use in their everyday involvement as youth activists for the promotion and protection of human rights. It seeks to develop capacities among youth workers and youth organisations committed in implementing advocacy actions that support the social inclusion of young migrants and refugees in Europe while promoting peace and human rights.

The 8 following partners of ELIX will take part of the project:

  • Coordinadora D'organitzadors De Camps De Treball Internacionals De Catalunya (Catalunya)
  • Egyesek Ifjusagi Egyesulet (Hungary)
  • Internationale Begegnung In Gemeinschaftsdiensten (Germany)
  • Yap - Youth Action For Peace (Italy)
  • The Coordinating Committee For International Voluntary Service (France)
  • Stowarzyszenie Promocji Wolontariatu (Poland)
  • Solidarités Jeunesses Mcp (France)
  • Jeunes Actifs Dans Le Volontariat Et Les Voyages Alternatifs (Belgium)

The project is part of the Raising Peace Campaign, coordinated by the network CCIVS and supported by the Council of Europe.

This project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Commission.
