One of the core activities of TE IS is organizing and implementing summer camps for children and youth (target group: 6-18 years old children and youth, 10 days).
Participants are coming from Budapest and all over Hungary, children with fewer opportunities also included.
The summer camp takes place every year at the same venue, in a small village in Northern Hungary, in 2013 the 20th time.
During the camp, children often interact with the local community: they go to see how to milk a cow, how different types of animals live in families, etc., or discover the villages nearby through multitask exercises. Thanks to the programme and the regular presence, we established a very good relationship with the community.
Each year we dedicate a different topic to the summer camp, such as western, dark middle-age or, this year, Roma and its mythology.
By taking part in this programme, the children and youth become more co-operative and loyal to each-other, they interact more with different generations. One of the main aims of the project is to work on the autonomy, co-operation and active citizenship of the children and youth involved.
