ELIX is super excited to launch an amazing Youth Exchange all about mental health and intercultural dialogue. With mental health challenges on the rise, it's more important than ever to promote understanding, empathy, and inclusion. Mental health is something we all face, but stigma, misinformation, and cultural differences often make it hard to talk openly about it. That’s why our “Mind Matters” exchange brings these two powerful topics together – creating a safe, open space for young people to dive into the connection between mental health and cultural exchange.
What’s in store?
Over the course of 8 action-packed days, you'll join 35 young people from all over to take part in interactive workshops, creative activities, group discussions, and storytelling. We’ll be working together to build stronger dialogue skills, emotional resilience, and a spirit of inclusion. Plus, you’ll be learning from diverse cultures and experiences, strengthening the bonds that unite us all.
The exchange will involve participants from 7 different countries, including Greece.
Who we’re looking for:
- 4 participants from Greece, aged 18-30.
- 1 Team Leader (18+), who will guide the Greek team throughout the exchange.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to make new friends, learn valuable skills, and help create a more open and understanding world when it comes to mental health!
Dates: 03-10/04/2025 (including travel days).
Location: Elisson Hostel, Krioneri, Korinthos, Greece.
Apply through the link at the end of the page by 05/03/2025.
Why This Matters?
We know that many young people are facing a lot of stress, anxiety, and mental health challenges, especially after the pandemic. Unfortunately, mental health is still a tough topic to talk about in many communities because of stigma. Plus, there’s often a lack of understanding and awareness of mental health, especially when it comes to different cultures. Many of us also don't have enough chances to learn from one another about mental health, and sometimes, we feel like we can’t speak up or support others.
What We Aim to Do?
This youth exchange is all about changing that. We want to create a space where we can talk openly about mental health, challenge stigma, and empower everyone to take care of their emotional well-being. By bringing together young people from different backgrounds, we’ll foster empathy, understanding, and strong connections through intercultural dialogue.
Our Goals:
- Raise awareness about mental health and break the stigma that stops us from talking about it.
- Build intercultural communication skills so we can better understand each other’s perspectives and experiences.
- Empower young people to take charge of their own mental health and help others do the same.
- Create a safe, inclusive space for sharing stories, learning from different cultures, and growing together.
Join us and be part of something that can make a real difference in how we think about and talk about mental health!
Language spoken during the exchange: English.
