In July 2018, Andrea left Slovekia to participate in a workcamp of 2 weeks, as a European Voluntary Service (EVS) volunteer through the project "V.I.P. - Volunteering is Possible" with the financial support of the Erasmus+ Programme funded by the European Commission. She supported children with disabilites throught “This summer is ours“, a project organized by ELIX in Elefsina. Discover what she wrote about her experience.

The completion of the "Summer in the City" and "This Summer is ours" projects was celebrated last Friday, July 27, by the children, their parents, their teachers and volunteers who took part, with some really moving farewell events organized by ELIX.

This summer was really mine..It was a special summer, different from the others.

This summer I had the chance to participate in the ELIX’s program “This summer is ours”. Today is 30 of September and it’s true that I still remember everything..I have to say that this was one of my best life’s experiences.

After some time people usually remember smallest world, soft touch, pleasant sound. It can be good morning that somebody wished, thanks, hello, and kept silent goodbye somebody may haven’t said. It is an inquiring look, smell of morning coffee singing in the kitchen, small flesh of first Thessaloniki sun.

“If there is one thing, I wish from this moment we will try to spend every single minute with each other. Talk, play, do things, or whatsoever. Just be together. Time flies like an arrow, and two weeks will pass in the blink of an eye. It is too short to completely know each other, but still, it is long enough for us to create truly memorable moments, to remember our time. I am sure we will miss this so much, and I don’t want us to look back and regret the things we didn't do.”
