Background of the project:
A right is a claim which is justified. Human Rights, however, are “super claims” with a difference; they are not depending on promises or guarantees by another person. The right to live of someone doesn’t depend on the promises of someone else not to kill him or her: his/her life may depend on it but not his/her right to live. The right to live of this person depends only on one thing: his status of human being.
Having a look on our own personal stories, walking in the street, reading or watching the news, exchanging with our close people, meeting new persons … there are so many moments and spaces where each of us have to face situations that we find not fair, not nice, not acceptable.
On the 10th of December 1948, the General Assembly adopted The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), which was drawn up by the UN Commission on Human Rights.
Human rights exist for all of us. So how can we make use of them? It is clear that their existence is not enough to put an end to human rights violations, since we all know that these are committed every day, in every part of the globe. So can they really make a difference? How can we use them?
Could we now have a look on how it is today in our countries? When we exchange with the youth of our countries, most of them feel that their acting power is decreasing. They know what they want but feel lost in the “what to do now?”.
One of our main goals is to support the youth in developing their autonomy, emancipation and power of action in order to be fully active in the society they are living in. We want them to be able to have a look on what is around, to focus on what is fine and what is not acceptable. And of course to start thinking and acting on what they want to change. For this exchange, we’ll use the focus on Human Rights as a tool for the Youth to be the change they want to see in the world.
If we want to organize this youth exchange, it is because we want to give to the Youth the possibility to have a look on what is happening in every country represented. We would like them to explore the diversity, the different background that each country has and to exchange about it.
Objectives of the Training:
- To promote Human Rights (HR) among young people and their role as citizens
- To support Young people who wish to have a more important acting-power
- To give the possibility to the Youth to experiment real actions and to reflect on it
- To support young people to understand that they actually have an acting power in the world they live in
- To understand the role of human rights respect in the process of overcoming intolerance and extremism, particularly promoting non-discriminatory approach
- To help young people to reflect on their own stories Develop tools which can be used by the participants back home in their organizations/communities
Training results:
BE-HUMAN TOOLKIT: We will realize an Online and Offline Toolkit, which will be widely communicated to the participants and sending organizations. It will also be given to our local partners and every organizations or individuals for who the toolkit can be relevant.
The main part of it will be done during the second phase of the exchange. It will collect all ideas from participants which can be used to have a more fair society, respecting the Human Rights in our everyday-life.
It will also contain pictures, draws and feedbacks, collected during the experimentation of the actions (public actions, video, exhibition…)
FACEBOOK PAGE: We will also create a Facebook page only for the project to allow the participant to get to know each other before the exchange and stay in touch after. It will contribute to enlarge their network and maybe to have more possibilities of activities. DAILY REPORT: A summary of each day will be realized by a team of 2 people in order to have a global look on the project at the end.
Methodology
The methodology (non-formal education, storytelling, discussions) and the structure of the exchange will encourage an active involvement of each participant in order to develop competences and new tools for a personal and social development. Non-formal education tools will be used to create a friendly and attentive atmosphere, considering each participant in his or her diversity, personality and culture, so that each person can feel free to express him(her)self, share his or her experiences, teach and learn from the others.
Expression workshops will permit to the youngsters to discover new ways of expression, encouraging their creativity and ability to create collectively, and to gain in self-confidence.
PROFILE OF PARTICIPANTS
- All youth aged from 18 to 25 (leaders can be older)
- Interested in the topic of Human Rights
- Willing to make a change in their society
- Interested in making some researches before the exchange on the topic on Human Rights in their country
- Ready to share, exchange, discover, create…
Group size: 31 participants from ERASMUS+ PROGRAMME COUNTRIES AND PARTNER
ACCOMODATION
The accommodation will be in a Group Accomodation Center, in the city of Le Mans. It is situated not far from our office, a large forest and a lake.
From here, you can reach the city center in 25 minutes by tramway. The Youth Exchange sessions will take place in another Center, 10 minutes by tramway from the accommodation place.
You will be in dormitory, 4 per room with bunk bed. Bed sheets and blankets are provided, but bring your own towel and toiletries.
Breakfast and dinner will be taken in the accommodation place, in a collective restauration centre.
Lunch will be taken in a different restauration centre.

LOCATION
Le Mans (143000 inhabitants) is located in the West of France. It is the administrative center of the Sarthe department, in the Pays de La Loire region (50 min from Paris)
You will have time to discover the city. Le Mans is a beautiful art and historical city; it is the third one of the Pays de la Loire region when it comes to culture and tourism. The old city center is surrounded by Roman walls and the most recent renovation works organized to preserve the oldest parts of Le Mans have helped to enhance its local heritage. Two rivers cross the city which has been named one of France greenest cities. There we can find various parks and gardens, in addition to the two big forests bordering the city.
HOW TO GET THERE ?
The closest airports are Nantes or Paris. From here you can take a train to Le Mans
DON’T FORGET TO BRING WITH YOU
Your travel proofs: originals or copies of flight invoices, original boarding passes and train/bus tickets (with price clearly shown).
- Your own towels and toiletries (everything needed for shower and your personal items)
- Traditional food, snacks, drinks from your country for the intercultural night
- Leaflets, posters, brochures from your organization
- Information and tools about your organizations work on Human Rights
- Any personal “talent” you want to share with the group : music instrument, games …
- And for sure please bring with you your smile and inspiration
Bed sheets and blankets will be provided at the accommodation.
We will staying in a collective place, so if you have valuables which are not essential, please do not bring them.
You are fully responsible for all your belongings.
FINANCIAL ASPECTS
Concordia would like to encourage participants to buy travel tickets as soon as possible to enjoy economical prices. Please do not buy travel tickets until your participation has been approved by Concordia. All the travel costs will be reimbursed the earliest 3 months after the end of the training course/youth exchange.
Please note that the process of reimbursement will be carried out directly by Concordia with the individual participants. We kindly remind all participants to keep the original tickets, invoices and BOARDING PASSES.
GENERAL REMARKS:
- the project dates are 20th – 29th of April 2017;
- the arrivals are scheduled for the 20th April 2017 in the afternoon (please make sure that your flight is not landing in the late evening as there won’t be suitable connection to join the place);
- the departures are scheduled for 29th of April 2017 in the early morning
ΟΙΚΟΝΟΜΙΚΑ ΣΤΟΙΧΕΙΑ
Το κόστος των μετακινήσεων κάθε συμμετέχοντα στο πρόγραμμα αυτό επιδοτείται μέχρι του ποσού των 270€(*), σύμφωνα με τους όρους και τους κανόνες του Erasmus+. Οι συμμετέχοντες λαμβάνουν την επιδότηση αυτή μετά από την ολοκλήρωση του προγράμματος και αφού έχουν καταθέσει τα απαραίτητα δικαιολογητικά (αποδείξεις, εισιτήρια, boarding pass, κλπ…).
(*: Επεξήγηση: αν λοιπόν το συνολικό κόστος των εισιτηρίων σου, αεροπορικά, μετρό, λεωφορεία, κλπ (όχι ΤΑΞΙ) φτάσει τα 260€ τότε θα λάβεις 260€ άρα θα επιδοτηθεί το 100% του κόστους των μετακινήσεων σου. Αν το συνολικό κόστος φτάσει τα 300€ τότε θα λάβεις το μέγιστο της επιδότησης τα 270€.)
Η διαμονή και η διατροφή των συμμετεχόντων καλύπτεται πλήρως από το πρόγραμμα.
Το ποσό συμμετοχής προς την ΕΛΙΞ είναι 50€.
Ο κάθε συμμετέχοντας θα πρέπει να έχει ιδιωτική ασφάλιση κατά την διάρκεια της συνάντησης καθώς δεν θα τους καλύπτει κάποιος δημόσιος φορέας κατά την παραμονή τους στην Γαλλία ή να είναι κάτοχος της Ευρωπαϊκής κάρτας Ασφάλισης Ασθενείας.
